Heading back to the dojang on Monday I wasn't feeling my best, being right in the worst part of having a cold, when your nose is blocked and instead of breathing, you cough uncontrollably.

After five minutes of the cardio warm up I was feeling feint and very sweaty. Luckily, the warm up was a little easier than usual and we took an extra five to stretch out the muscles.

Great time to breathe.

But we soon got straight into training. And of course on the one day I wasn't feeling my best, I was able to be trained exclusively by my instructor.
A rare opportunity in my previous TaeKwon-Do experience.

He corrected my punching technique and was very encouraging, which was fantastic. But my body just wouldn't cooperate and I was sweating like crazy in my heavy uniform.
My punches were slack, my stances were weak and my head was spinning.
I must have looked terrible because he asked me if I was okay and then sent me to sit down and have some water.

At the end of class Chelsea asked me if I was okay and said I should wear a t-shirt next lesson so that I wouldn't get so hot. I took her advice.

Wednesday was much better!

Chelsea had bought a Rhee TaeKwon-Do t-shirt to class for me to borrow.
The warm up was a breeze and the shirt really helped.

For training we practiced stances and also elbow strikes on focus pads which was so much fun.

Towards the end our instructor bought out a large box with wooden breaking boards inside and several of the senior belts had turns breaking them.
However the most impressive of them all was one of the blue belts, he couldn't have been older than eleven or twelve. He performed a flying kick, jumping over our instructor and at the end, he broke the board.

I thought it was fantastic and I can't wait to be able to do that myself. Hopefully with enough practice and perseverance I will be able to.

Thanks for reading.
