Since there is a possibility I might be able to grade to the next belt level within the next week (fingers crossed), I thought it might be a good idea to give a rundown of the Rhee TaeKwon-Do belt system.
WHITE BELT:
Of course the first belt is white belt. White represents the innocence of a beginner who has no previous knowledge of Rhee TaeKwon-Do. This is known as 10th Kup/Gup or simply 10th grade. In the event of a white belt's first grading a yellow stripe is added to their belt to represent the transition onto the next belt, this is 9th grade.
YELLOW BELT:
At the next grading the student is give the rank of 8th grade and given a new Yellow belt. Yellow represents the earth from which the seed of Rhee TaeKwon-Do is laid and takes root. Grading to 7th grade a green stripe is added to the yellow belt.
GREEN BELT:
Grading to 2nd grade the student is given a brown belt, this is the last coloured belt and represents the Rhee TaeKwon-Do tree becoming strong and solid. This is when the student should have full confidence in their knowledge of Rhee TaeKwon-Do. The final kup/gup grade is 1st grade and a black stripe is added to the brown belt.
BLACK BELT:
Finally, Black Belt. Black belt represents maturity, the opposite to White Belt and the transition from novice to one of proficient knowledge of Rhee TaeKwon-Do. Gradings after black belt denote Dan grades which range from 1st Dan through to 9th Dan.
To become a black belt one must have unwavering persistence and an unbreakable spirit. This is gained by grading through the coloured belts, learning along the way and never giving up.
Something I hope to be able to do in my journey.

The next rank is 6th grade and the student receives a green belt. Green represents the plant of TaeKwon-Do beginning to grow strong. Again after the next grading a blue stripe is added to the green belt and the student is given the rank of 5th grade.
BLUE BELT:
4th grade is the next rank and the student is given a blue belt. Blue represents Rhee TaeKwon-Do growing towards heaven or the sky slowly becoming a tree. TaeKwon-Do skills are becoming very strong at this grade. Grading to 3rd grade denotes a brown stripe on the blue belt.
